Employment
Solomon Taylor & Shaw’s Employment Law Department was formed as a direct response to rapid changes in employment law and a realisation that this is an area of law which can no longer be avoided by anyone in a working relationship, whether an employer or an employee. The legislation is increasingly far-reaching and the implications of failing to comply are now far more serious than ever before. Solomon Taylor & Shaw have the expertise to advise on all aspects of the employee and employer relationship, whether that be drafting employment contracts and staff policies or representation at the Employment Tribunal.
Whilst our aim is always to help our clients avoid litigation wherever possible, sometimes it is inevitable. However, even where litigation has commenced, we seek to resolve any employment disputes in a timely and cost-effective way, always listening to the client’s instructions and priorities and acting accordingly.
We have expertise in the following areas:
- Drafting – employment contracts, staff handbooks, compromise agreements
- TUPE – the employment law aspects of takeovers, mergers, reorganisations and insolvencies
- Working Time Regulations – e.g. holidays and holiday pay
- 'Family Friendly' Legislation – e.g. flexible working, maternity/paternity/parental/dependant care leave
- Discrimination legislation - advice on the raft of anti-discrimination legislation including disability, race, religious and sex discrimination
- Post-termination restrictive covenants
- Unfair dismissal
- Wrongful dismissal
- Disciplinary, Dismissal and Grievance procedures
